• By the death of Mr Charles Frederick Clark, on Saturday, 8 August 1908 a fine old pioneer colonist has gone. He had been an invalid for some time past, and had reached the ripe old age of 84. The deceased was born at Girvan, Scotland, and came out with many other good pioneer, in the ship 'Montmorency', in 1863. On arrival he was engaged from the depot as a farm hand by Messrs White and Macgregor, of Tinana, who are still with us. He afterwards worked for the Divisional Boards, when formed, and was for some time overseer of the Tiaro Divisional Board, but had been living in retirement with members of his family for the past 20 years. Mr Clark lost his wife in 1897, and leaves a grown up family of 8 sons and daughters, namely, Messrs James Clark (of Bundaberg), William and Charles Clark (of Childers), John Clark (of Gympie), and Edward Clark (of Ayr); also Mrs Macalister, Maryborough), Mrs Harwood, (Torquay), and Mrs Geo. Noakes (Bundaberg). He also leaves 57 grandchildren, and 38 great-grand-children. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon 9 August 1908 at the Maryborough Cemetery.
